Who am I? Have you ever asked yourself that question? It is our God-given right to understand and appreciate who we are at any given moment in time, to have this self-awareness in spite of the many challenges we all face on a daily basis. We, as humans, are complex organisms, much like a mathematical equation, perhaps even like a scientific experiment. As Kenneth A Macfarlane writes: “My body is a metaphoric algorithm: a Temple of Awareness.” To understand ourselves, to come to terms with the ‘who am I’ question, we must understand and appreciate all the complexities of our multi-dimensional makeup as well as the external forces which are constantly changing around us and consequently changing us. “Life is like trying to put a complex jigsaw puzzle together with no accurate picture of the final image. A jigsaw puzzle is a two-dimensional representation of three-dimensional objects. We incarnated into three-dimensional pieces of a multi-dimensional jigsaw. The Godforce constructs our three-dimensional body as an organic algorithm to realize our original purpose and potential for our incarnation.” It’s all about “coming to know ourselves and our environment”.
Kenneth A. Macfarlane’s essays, which are compiled in The Algorithm of Consciousness, lead the reader through the massive complexities of this matrix we call life and how the reader can face them head-on, understand them, and implement them to the best of our abilities into conscious selves. It’s not only essential for our own well-being, but also for the world around us. Our own self-awareness will help us become our full potential in a positive way, one that will benefit both ourselves and our environment. The author begins with a concise introduction of his intent. Each of the essays in his book is well presented with clear goals for the reader to aspire to. In his conclusion, he emphasizes, “Embrace the need to implement a heart-based approach in dealing with all sentient life.” This book is a great tool for self-awareness in a way in which it will not only improve our life but also our position in life and how the world around us interacts with who and what we are. Very thought-provoking and inspirational.
